Beachside Lockdown - Morocco's hidden beach camps

Photojournalist Sef Younes shows us what life is like inside Morocco's secret wild camping spots during the COVID-19 lockdown.



On the 10th June the Moroccan government declared another state of emergency and shut the country down for a second time after a declaring hundreds of new COVID-19 cases. These measures included closing all public beaches up and down the country to locals and tourists alike. However, young residents up and down the coasts of Morocco had other ideas and decided to make secret wild camping spots on the beaches hidden from the authorities. Sef Younes, photojournalist and Safi City local documented his time living in one of these camps along with the others who snuck out of their homes to join him.
